Senses: Hearing, Eye Sight

It has been discovered that one of the first senses to develop in a developing human Embryo is the hearing. The Foetus can start to hear sounds after the 24th week and the sense of sight is developed by the 28th week.

The next few verses you will be reading from the Qur’an revealed over 1400 years ago amazed me. You will find that the hearing sense is mentioned first in all the verses and to back this up I have also included translations from the other major translators. The Qur’an matches with the discovery of modern Embryology. Another amazing miracle which could not have been known by humans over 1400 years ago.

Then made him proper and blew into him a spirit from Him, and bestowed ears and eyes and hearts to you; very little thanks do you offer! (Qur’an 32:9)

Other Translations of above verse:
Sahih International: Then He proportioned him and breathed into him from His [created] soul and made for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful.
Pickthall: Then He fashioned him and breathed into him of His Spirit; and appointed for you hearing and sight and hearts. Small thanks give ye!
Yusuf Ali: But He fashioned him in due proportion, and breathed into him something of His spirit. And He gave you (the faculties of) hearing and sight and feeling (and understanding): little thanks do ye give!
Shakir: Then He made him complete and breathed into him of His spirit, and made for you the ears and the eyes and the hearts; little is it that you give thanks.
Muhammad Sarwar: then He gave it proper shape and blew His spirit in it. He made ears, eyes and hearts for you, but you give Him very little thanks.
Mohsin Khan: Then He fashioned him in due proportion, and breathed into him the soul (created by Allah for that person), and He gave you hearing (ears), sight (eyes) and hearts. Little is the thanks you give!
Arberry: then He shaped him, and breathed His spirit in him. And He appointed for you hearing, and sight, and hearts; little thanks you show.

Another verse mentions:

Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him –   We therefore made him hearing, seeing(Qur’an 76:2)

Other Translations by:
Sahih International: Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing.
Pickthall: Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing.
Yusuf Ali: Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight.
Shakir: Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing.
Muhammad Sarwar: We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision.
Mohsin Khan: Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer.
Arberry: We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing.

And another verse:

And  it is He Who has created ears and eyes and hearts for you; very little is the  right you acknowledge. (Qur’an 23:78)

Other Translations by:
Sahih International: And it is He who produced for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful.
Pickthall: He it is Who hath created for you ears and eyes and hearts. Small thanks give ye!
Yusuf Ali: It is He Who has created for you (the faculties of) hearing, sight, feeling and understanding: little thanks it is ye give!
Shakir: And He it is Who made for you the ears and the eyes and the hearts; little is it that you give thanks.
Muhammad Sarwar: It is God who has created ears, eyes, and hearts for you. Little are the thanks that you give.
Mohsin Khan: It is He, Who has created for you (the sense of) hearing (ears), sight (eyes), and hearts (understanding). Little thanks you give.
Arberry: It is He who produced for you hearing, and eyes, and hearts; little thanks you show.

The sense hearing is mentioned first in every verse. Amazing

The Miracle Of The Qur’an

All that we have seen so far shows us one clear fact that the Qur’an is such a book that all the news related in it has proved to be true over the years and continues to stay ahead of us and modern science. Facts about scientific subjects and the news given about the future, facts that no one could have known at the time the Qur’an was revealed. It is impossible for this information to have been known with the level of knowledge and technology which was available over 1400 years ago.

In the 7th century, when the Qur’an was revealed, Arab society had many superstitious and groundless beliefs where scientific issues were concerned. Lacking the technology to examine the universe and nature, early Arabs believed in legends inherited from past generations. They believed the mountains supported the sky above. They believed that the earth was flat and that there were high mountains at both ends like pillars which supported the sky. However all these superstitious beliefs of Arab society were eliminated with the Qur’an. The verse mentions:

“It was said: “God is He who raised up the heavens without any support.” (Qur’an, 38:2)

This verse confirmed the belief that the sky does not remain above because of the mountains. In many other subjects, important facts were revealed at a time which no one could have known at the time.

In one of the verses within the Qur’an, it’s mentioned we will not find any inconsistencies within the Qur’an.

“If it had been from other than God, they would have found many inconsistencies  in it.” (Qur’an, 4:82)

Not only are there no inconsistencies within the Qur’an, but every piece of information it contains coninues to reveal the miracles of this divine book and will continue to do so.

In the year 1976, a lecture was given which was located at the French Academy of Medicine. The lecture title was Physiological and Embryological data in the Qur’an and was delivered by a French physician Dr Maurice Bucaille. His reason for hosting the lecture was that “our knowledge of these disciplines is such, that it is impossible to explain how a text produced at the time of the Qur’an could have contained ideas that have only been discovered in modern times.”

The citations included in this pamphlet appeared in the Qur’an during the 7th century CE. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was himself illiterate and was living among illiterate people. The Arabs at that time worshipped idols and believed in horoscope and magic and were superstitious. The Arabs very actively opposed the teachings advanced by the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) through his revelations.

Many scientists have reverted to Islam since discovering verses within the Qur’an which they know could not have been known over 1400 years ago.

What falls to man is to hold fast to this divine book revealed by God (Allah), and receive it as his one and only guide. One of the verses mentions:

“And this is a Book We have sent down and blessed, so follow it and have fear of God so that hopefully you will gain mercy.” (Qur’an, 6:155)

In other verses, God mentions:

“Say: ‘It is the truth from your Lord. Let anyone who wishes to, believe, and let anyone who wishes to, disbelieve.'”
(Qur’an, 18:29)

Another verse mentions:

“No indeed! Truly it (the Qur’an) is a reminder, and whoever wills pays heed to it.” (Qur’an, 80:11-12)

Another verse mentions:

“Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian.” (Qur’an, 15:9)

Another verse mentions:

“Behold! In the creation Of the heavens and the earth, And the alternation Of Night and Day – There are indeed Signs For men of understanding.” (Qur’an 3:190)

Another verse mentions:

“We will soon show them Our signs in the Universe and inside their selves, until it will become quite clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient as regards your Lord that He is a witness over all things?” (Quran, 41:53)

The Qur’an, 1400 years later continues to show its signs to humans and the amazing part is, a 1400 year old book continues to keep up with us. God planned all perfectly.

I found that the Qur’an is like an instruction manual for the humans and if followed correctly leads one to being a good human being. The Qur’an includes solutions for everything we face in life. Definetly a solution for humanity.

Does Islam Preach Hatred? Are Muslims Bad?
Due to the issues occuring around the World and from what you may read on the Internet, lots assume Islam is Evil and preaches hatred. This is not the case, as from the research I have carried out, Islam teaches peace and respect. Have a read of Are Muslims Bad People? which should hopefully clear any misunderstandings you have about Muslims and Islam.

Smaller Than An Atom

In ancient times a well known theory by the name of ‘Theory of Atomism’ was widely accepted. This theory was originally proposed by the Greeks, by a man called Democritus, who lived about 23 centuries ago.

Democritus assumed that the smallest unit of matter was the atom and nothing small existed. The Arabs used to believe the same. The Arabic word dharrah most commonly meant an atom.

But, In recent times modern science has discovered that it is possible to split an atom. That the atom can be split further is a development of the 20th century. The following Qur’anic verse however, refuses to acknowledge this limit:

“And the disbelievers said, “The Last Day will never come upon us”; proclaim, “Surely yes, why not? By oath of my Lord, it will surely come upon you – the All Knowing of the hidden; nothing is hidden from Him – equal to an atom or less than it or greater – in the heavens or in the earth, but it is in a clear Book” (Qur’an 34:3)

Translations from others:
Sahih International: But those who disbelieve say, “The Hour will not come to us.” Say, “Yes, by my Lord, it will surely come to you. [Allah is] the Knower of the unseen.” Not absent from Him is an atom’s weight within the heavens or within the earth or [what is] smaller than that or greater, except that it is in a clear register –
Pickthall: Those who disbelieve say: The Hour will never come unto us. Say: Nay, by my Lord, but it is coming unto you surely. (He is) the Knower of the Unseen. Not an atom’s weight, or less than that or greater, escapeth Him in the heavens or in the earth, but it is in a clear Record,
Yusuf Ali: The Unbelievers say, “Never to us will come the Hour”: Say, “Nay! but most surely, by my Lord, it will come upon you;- by Him Who knows the unseen,- from Whom is not hidden the least little atom in the heavens or on earth: Nor is there anything less than that, or greater, but is in the Record Perspicuous:
Shakir: And those who disbelieve say: The hour shall not come upon us. Say: Yea! by my Lord, the Knower of the unseen, it shall certainly come upon you; not the weight of an atom becomes absent from Him, in the heavens or in the earth, and neither less than that nor greater, but (all) is in a clear book
Muhammad Sarwar: The disbelievers have said, “There will be no Hour of Doom.” Say, “By my Lord, it certainly will come. My Lord knows the unseen. Not even an atom’s weight in the heavens or the earth remains hidden from Him. Nothing exists greater or smaller than this without its record in the illustrious Book.
Mohsin Khan: Those who disbelieve say: “The Hour will not come to us.” Say: “Yes, by my Lord, it will come to you.” (Allah, He is) the AllKnower of the unseen, not even the weight of an atom (or a small ant) or less than that or greater, escapes from His Knowledge in the heavens or in the earth, but it is in a Clear Book (AlLauh AlMahfuz).
Arberry: The unbelievers say, ‘The Hour will never come to us.’ Say: ‘Yes indeed, by my Lord, it shall come to you, by Him who knows the Unseen; not so much as the weight of an ant in heaven and earth escapes from Him, neither is aught smaller than that, or greater, but it is in a Manifest Book;

The above verse refers to God’s knowledge of all things, hidden or apparent. The verse then goes further and mentions that God is aware of everything, including what is smaller than the atom. So the verse clearly shows that it is possible for something smaller than the atom to exist, a fact discovered only recently by modern science.

There may be further discoveries of smaller matters in the future. God knows best

Another amazing verse from the Qur’an

Pain Receptors In The Skin

Humans thought the pain we feel was dependant on the brain itself. But modern science discovered that pain receptors exist within the skin which is what causes the pain.

For example, when we are burnt, the doctor/surgeon will carry out a quick and easy test. He will verify whether the pain receptors have been damaged using a pin to prick the area which has been damaged.

If the patient feels pain, the pain receptors are still in working order, but if the patient does not feel pain then the pain receptors have been damaged and the patient will feel no pain around that area.

The Qur’an mentions the recreating of skin in the below verse over 1400 years ago:

We shall soon put those who disbelieve in Our signs into the fire; whenever their skins are cooked (fully burnt) We shall change them for new skins so they may taste the punishment (again and again); indeed Allah is Almighty, Wise. (Qur’an, 4:56)

Other translations of the above verse:
Sahih International: Indeed, those who disbelieve in Our verses – We will drive them into a Fire. Every time their skins are roasted through We will replace them with other skins so they may taste the punishment. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted in Might and Wise.
Pickthall: Lo! Those who disbelieve Our revelations, We shall expose them to the Fire. As often as their skins are consumed We shall exchange them for fresh skins that they may taste the torment. Lo! Allah is ever Mighty, Wise.
Yusuf Ali: Those who reject our Signs, We shall soon cast into the Fire: as often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for fresh skins, that they may taste the penalty: for Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.
Shakir: (As for) those who disbelieve in Our communications, We shall make them enter fire; so oft as their skins are thoroughly burned, We will change them for other skins, that they may taste the chastisement; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise.
Muhammad Sarwar: We will make the rejectors of Our revelations suffer in hell fire. As soon as the fire destroys their skins, We will give them new skins so that they may suffer more of the torment. God is Majestic and All-wise.
Mohsin Khan: Surely! Those who disbelieved in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) We shall burn them in Fire. As often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for other skins that they may taste the punishment. Truly, Allah is Ever Most Powerful, AllWise.
Arberry: Surely those who disbelieve in Our signs — We shall certainly roast them at a Fire; as often as their skins are wholly burned, We shall give them in exchange other skins, that they may taste the chastisement. Surely God is All-mighty, All-wise.

Allah (God) seems to be giving us a sign within the Qur’an revealed over 1400 years ago, that when the pain receptors are destroyed, new skin will be created. Amazing

The Big Bang

Today, most believe that the Universe began with a Big Bang which occured about 14 billion years ago. At that time, the entire Universe was inside a bubble that was thousands of times smaller than a pinhead which was hotter and denser than anything we can imagine.

Then it suddenly exploded which is why the Universe we are part of today was created. Time, space and matter all began after the Big Bang occured. In a fraction of a second, the Universe grew from smaller than a pinhead to bigger than a Galaxy and it kept on growing. The Universe is still expanding today.

The Qur’an amazingly mentions both the creation of the Universe and the continuous expansion.

The Qur’an mentions:

“Did not the disbelievers observe that the heavens and the earth were together, so We parted them, and we made every living thing from water? So will they not accept faith?” (Quran, 21:30)

Other translations of the above verse:

Sahih International: Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?
Pickthall: Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then We parted them, and we made every living thing of water? Will they not then believe?
Yusuf Ali: Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?
Shakir: Do not those who disbelieve see that the heavens and the earth were closed up, but We have opened them; and We have made of water everything living, will they not then believe?
Muhammad Sarwar: Have the unbelievers not ever considered that the heavens and the earth were one piece and that We tore them apart from one another. From water We have created all living things. Will they then have no faith?
Mohsin Khan: Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?
Arberry: Have not the unbelievers then beheld that the heavens and the earth were a mass all sewn up, and then We unstitched them and of water fashioned every living thing? Will they not believe?

The expansion of the Universe is detailed in post Universe Is Expanding

This was another verse which amazed me. The Qur’an seems to mention the Big Bang in a nutshell over 1400 years ago.

Universe Started From Smoke

According to NASA’s website, billions of years ago our solar system had its beginnings as a vast cloud of dust and gas. The cloud began to collapse, flattening into a giant disk that rotated faster and faster, just as an ice skater spins faster as she brings her arms in. The Sun formed at the center, and the swirling gas and dust in the rest of the spinning disk clumped together to produce the planets, moons, asteroids, and comets.

The Quran mentions:

Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, “Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion.” They said, “We have come willingly.” (Qur’an, 41:11)

Other Translations of the above verse:
Sahih International: Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, “Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion.” They said, “We have come willingly.”
Pickthall: Then turned He to the heaven when it was smoke, and said unto it and unto the earth: Come both of you, willingly or loth. They said: We come, obedient.
Yusuf Ali: Moreover He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) smoke: He said to it and to the earth: “Come ye together, willingly or unwillingly.” They said: “We do come (together), in willing obedience.”
Shakir: Then He directed Himself to the heaven and it is a vapor, so He said to it and to the earth: Come both, willingly or unwillingly. They both said: We come willingly.
Muhammad Sarwar: He established His dominance over the sky, which (for that time) was like smoke. Then He told the heavens and the earth, “Take your shape either willingly or by force” They said, “We willingly obey”.
Mohsin Khan: Then He Istawa (rose over) towards the heaven when it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth: “Come both of you willingly or unwillingly.” They both said: “We come, willingly.”
Arberry: Then He lifted Himself to heaven when it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth, “Come willingly, or unwillingly!” They said, “We come willingly.”

Who would have known this over 1400 years ago? Could someone have made such a verse up?

The Moon’s Orbit

If you carry out some research you will find that the Earth spins faster then the moon. The Earth spins at around 1,000mph according to NASA’s website. By comparison, the moon rotates about 10 mph. It takes 24 hours for the Earth to rotate completely.

The Moon takes around 27.32 days to complete a rotation around the Earth. The Moons rotation pattern and phases are shown in the images below.

Phases_of_the_Moon

Moon-Orbit-Shape

moonorbit

Now, read the below verse from the Qur’an:

“And We have appointed positions for the moon till it returns like an old branch of the date palm. It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night surpass the day; and each one of them floats in its orbit.” (Qur’an, 36:39-40)

Other translations of the above:
Sahih International: And the moon – We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming.
Pickthall: And for the moon We have appointed mansions till she return like an old shrivelled palm-leaf. It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit.
Yusuf Ali: And the Moon,- We have measured for her mansions (to traverse) till she returns like the old (and withered) lower part of a date-stalk. It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law).
Shakir: And (as for) the moon, We have ordained for it stages till it becomes again as an old dry palm branch. Neither is it allowable to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day; and all float on in a sphere.
Muhammad Sarwar: how We ordained the moon to pass through certain phases until it seems eventually to be like a bent twig; how the sun is not supposed to catch-up with the moon, nor is the night to precede the day. All of them are to float in a certain orbit;
Mohsin Khan: And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk. It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit.
Arberry: And the moon — We have determined it by stations, till it returns like an aged palm-bough. It behoves not the sun to overtake the moon, neither does the night outstrip the day, each swimming in a sky.

Date-Branch

Date-Branch2

This is truly amazing. If you carry out your research you will find that the Moon does not follow a regular orbit like the other planets. As the Moon orbits the Earth, it sometimes moves behind it and sometimes in front. The Earth travels at around 1,000 miles per hour and is around 4 times larger then the Moon. As the Moon also moves with the Earth around the Sun, it actually follows a constant pattern resembling the letter “S” in space. As mentioned in the Qur’an, it resembles an old date branch and does indeed resemble the twisted form.

Who would have known this 1400 years ago. Another amazing discovery

Darkness Within The Depths Of The Ocean

Today, we know that human beings are not able to dive more then 40/50 meters into the depth of the oceans without the support of specially designed equipment.

A submarine that could navigate under water was first built around 1620. Since then Submarines developed at a fast pace. The development of submarines made possible the study of life in the depths of the oceans. Humans were able to gather data which had been possible thanks to the means developed in recent centuries without which a man could not dive to a depth more than 40/50 meters.

The bottom of the seas and oceans are pitch black. While broad daylight reigns on the surface, 200 meters below it is again completely pitch black. At the time of the revelation of the Qur’an, humans had no knowledge about the darkness in the depth of the seas and oceans. The Qur’an mentions the depth of the oceans within a verse. No human would have known this over 1400 years ago without the use of technology and special equipment which exists today.

The Qur’an mentions over 1400 years ago:

“Or is like the darkness in a deep sea. It is covered by waves, above which are waves, above which clouds. Darkness, one above another. If a man stretches out his hand, he can hardly see it. For any to whom God gives not light, there is no light.” (Qur’an, 24:40)

Translations from others:
Sahih International: Or [they are] like darknesses within an unfathomable sea which is covered by waves, upon which are waves, over which are clouds – darknesses, some of them upon others. When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. And he to whom Allah has not granted light – for him there is no light.
Pickthall: Or as darkness on a vast, abysmal sea. There covereth him a wave, above which is a wave, above which is a cloud. Layer upon layer of darkness. When he holdeth out his hand he scarce can see it. And he for whom Allah hath not appointed light, for him there is no light.
Yusuf Ali: Or (the Unbelievers’ state) is like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean, overwhelmed with billow topped by billow, topped by (dark) clouds: depths of darkness, one above another: if a man stretches out his hands, he can hardly see it! for any to whom Allah giveth not light, there is no light!
Shakir: Or like utter darkness in the deep sea: there covers it a wave above which is another wave, above which is a cloud, (layers of) utter darkness one above another; when he holds out his hand, he is almost unable to see it; and to whomsoever Allah does not give light, he has no light.
Muhammad Sarwar: Or it (the deeds of the unbelievers) are like the darkness of a deep, stormy sea with layers of giant waves, covered by dark clouds. It is darkness upon darkness whereby even if one stretches out his hands he can not see them. One can have no light unless God gives him light.
Mohsin Khan: Or [the state of a disbeliever] is like the darkness in a vast deep sea, overwhelmed with a great wave topped by a great wave, topped by dark clouds, darkness, one above another, if a man stretches out his hand, he can hardly see it! And he for whom Allah has not appointed light, for him there is no light.
Arberry: or they are as shadows upon a sea obscure covered by a billow above which is a billow above which are clouds, shadows piled one upon another; when he puts forth his hand, wellnigh he cannot see it. And to whomsoever God assigns no light, no light has he.

Waves
Everyone knows waves occur above the ocean and we have the impression that the waves only break on the surface and that the water below is calm.

The above verse mentions:

“by waves, above which are waves,”

These waves were discovered in 1900 and are as described in the Qur’an over 1400 years ago. The dark depths of the sea contains these waves topped by the waves on the surface.

These internal waves cover the deep waters of seas and oceans because deep water has a higher density than the water above it.
Internal waves act like surface waves. They can break, just like surface waves. Internal waves cannot be seen by the human eye, but they can be detected by studying temperature or salinity changes at a given location.

The statements in the Qur’an run absolutely parallel to the above explanation. Without research, one can only see the waves on the surface of the sea. It is impossible for one to know about the internal waves beneath the sea. Yet, within the Qur’an, God draws our attention to another type of wave that occurs within the depths of the oceans.

In the verse, we also observe the motion of light. The sun’s rays are refracted as they strike the clouds and lose some of their luminescence. The rays that reach the surface of the seas diffract as they continue their journey in the spectrum, the first layer
holding onto the yellow, while the second holds onto the green; in the last layer, the blue disappears. So, as the journey goes further downwards, light vanishes. The sunlight refracted in the clouds, the light that vanishes in the levels of oceans, completely disappears in the depths of oceans and cannot light the bottom. Not even fish can see their way unless they themselves generate some form of light.

Another amazing verse within the Qur’an

The End Of The Universe

You may have heard of The Big Crunch Theory. Scientists have already discovered that the Universe is expanding, which is also mentioned within the Qur’an. But experts believe that there will come a time when the whole Universe will reach a saturation point. When this occurs, the expansion of the Universe will stop altogether and the whole process will reverse and the Universe will fold back in on itself. Basically, astronomers believe that the Universe will eventually collapse on itself until nothing is left.

The Qur’an mentions the Big Crunch discovered by humans recently, within the below verse revealed over 1400 years ago:

“That Day We will fold up heaven like folding up the pages of a book. As We originated the first creation so We will regenerate it. It is a promise binding on Us. That is what We will do.” (Qur’an, 21:104)

Other translations of the above verse:
Sahih International: The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.
Pickthall: The Day when We shall roll up the heavens as a recorder rolleth up a written scroll. As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise (binding) upon Us. Lo! We are to perform it.
Yusuf Ali: The Day that We roll up the heavens like a scroll rolled up for books (completed),- even as We produced the first creation, so shall We produce a new one: a promise We have undertaken: truly shall We fulfil it.
Shakir: On the day when We will roll up heaven like the rolling up of the scroll for writings, as We originated the first creation, (so) We shall reproduce it; a promise (binding on Us); surely We will bring it about.
Muhammad Sarwar: (This will happen) on the day when We roll up the heavens as if it were a written scroll and bring it back into existence just as though We had created it for the first time. This is what We have promised and We have always been true to Our promise.
Mohsin Khan: And (remember) the Day when We shall roll up the heavens like a scroll rolled up for books, as We began the first creation, We shall repeat it, (it is) a promise binding upon Us. Truly, We shall do it.
Arberry: On the day when We shall roll up heaven as a scroll is rolled for the writings; as We originated the first creation, so We shall bring it back again — a promise binding on Us; so We shall do.

God has mentioned within the Qur’an that the Universe is expanding and in another verse said it will fold back again. Science confirmed that the Universe is indeed expanding and also confirmed the Big Crunch Theory which will bring the Universe to an end. Who would have known this over 1400 years ago.Why would someone want to guess such verses knowing that it could be proved incorrect in the future. Yet, the Qur’an continues to move forward with us and modern Science even after 1400 years. Amazing.

Another amazing verse within the Qur’an, proved by modern science.

Heavy Clouds

We are now aware that clouds can only form where air is rising. When air rises it cools off, and this causes water droplets to form, making clouds. Not all rising air makes clouds, but if the air has enough moisture (humidity) in it, then clouds may form. A good way to picture this is when wind blows humid air towards a mountain. When the air hits the mountain it has no where to go but up.

So, how does a cloud hold water? First of all, the droplets of water are very very small, smaller than the head of a pin. Because they are so small they are easily kept up by the rising air. So the reason that clouds can hold water droplets is because the air in clouds is rising, and the rising air keeps pushing the water droplets upwards.

A giant thunderhead cloud may contain more than two billion pounds of water, but even a modest sized cloud may contain water equivalent to the mass of a 747 jet plane.

The Qur’an details the water cycle in great detail but here we will focus on verses mentioning heavy clouds. Read the verse below.

“It is He Who sends out the winds, bringing advance news of His mercy, so that when they have lifted up the heavy clouds, We dispatch them to a dead land and send down water to it, by means of which We bring forth all kinds of fruit.” (Qur’an, 7:57)

Translation from other major translators
Sahih International: And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy until, when they have carried heavy rainclouds, We drive them to a dead land and We send down rain therein and bring forth thereby [some] of all the fruits. Thus will We bring forth the dead; perhaps you may be reminded.
