What is carmine? What is cochineal? What is e120?
You may find one of the above ingredients located on the back of a food product you purchase. The ingredient is a red pigment made from the crushed female cochineal insect/beetle. Basically, it’s a dye used for colouring food, made from crushed dried bodies of a female scale insect.
